Old/New Pages
I do my novel writing on line and in Pages '08, and was nearly tempted when I got my new thunderbolt monitor and Mac Pro to update to iWork '09 (Keynote, Numbers, and Pages bundled together), but found out playing around with the machines set up in the Apple computer store that the new Macintosh OS installed a newer version of Pages, but could not open my old files (over 11,000 of them...) So, I kept my old version, which will really do what I want job-wise.
That also meant that I did not update out of Maverick. I am now relieved to see that according to Downloads.com, the El Capitan Mac OS now has a new iWorks, quietly released, that is compatible with Pages '08 and can even open some '06 files. But, the new versions sell for $19.95 each, priced separately.
Once a fence-sitter, always a fence-sitter, I guess.
