Ever since one of my cousins became a priest, I've been attracted to references to Catholic items. While reading the Tami Hoag mystery Guilty as Sin, when one of the characters calls her priest, he answers the phone by saying, "God Squad. Free deliverance."
(Omitting character's silent reaction)
"We've got a special on penance tonight -- three rosaries for the price of two."
"What about shoulders to cry on?" she asked.
The silence was warm and full. "Buy one, get one free," Father Tom said softly.
"Can I put it on my tab?" (paperback p. 184)
