Best Ironic Last Line in a 2005 Light Summer Romance

Nora Roberts in The Law Is a Lady:
Besides, you'll never make it stick.

Rest of the contenders (unranked)

She had finally come home.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Apache Summer:
"Wherever I decree they are most useful, Miss Donnelly."

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Dark Stranger:
And Texas could wait just a little while longer.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Dead on the Dance Floor:
(Next to the last paragraph) And like everything else that night, it was beautiful beyond belief.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Down in New Orleans:
(Other than my normal irritation with her paragraphing needlessly and using sentence fragments.)
From somewhere, a jazz trumpet played its melody into the night.

And the smell of chicory wafted on the air.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Dying to Have Her:
And hand in hand, they walked from the graveyard and back to the streets of the city that was teeming with life. (Actually, I prefer this one without either and)

Heather Graham Pozzessere in For All of her Life:
And indeed... was the prime of life.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Haunted:
And life, she knew, was very, very good.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Never Sleep With Strangers:
He was exactly where he wanted to be.

(Third sentence from the end of the Epilogue) She had been right -- she had been ever so right.

Heather Graham Pozzessere in Tempestuous Eden:
Think that will keep him smiling?

Her laughter was free and breezy. "Pick a number."

Nora Roberts in Local Hero:
"I'd love it. I'd absolutely love it."

Nora Roberts in Partners:
(The female character, not known for her cooking prowess, has taken a stab at preparing supper for the first time.)
"I haven't thanked you for saving my life."

"No."..."What'd you have in mind?"

"Doing the same for you." She grinned at him. "We're eating out."

Nora Roberts in The Perfect Neighbor:
Then she was laughing as he swung her off her feet, spinning her in dizzy circles.

Jan Cox Speas in My Love, My Enemy:
"Just so, ma'am."

Daniel Steel in Lone Eagle:
The dance was over, but it would never end.

Cathy Gillen Thacker in An Unexpected Family:
She just knew it.

Gayle Wilson in The Heart's Desire:
"... I do so like the sound of that."

And he found he also liked the sound of the laughter echoing through the room, a sound he hadn't heard here in far too many years.

* Removed because the book's title, Home For Christmas, reduces the line to something quite pedestrian, to me.

** Removed because the book's title, Night Moves; a spoiler for the last line of the quote.

*** I only like this line when NOT considered with the book's title, as otherwise, it is SOOO trite, so I removed the title to here: And the Bride Vanishes

It appeals to my creativity to try to compose a story starting out with one of these last lines. Of course, ideally, that would work best if I had NOT read the books, as I would not be influenced by the author's work...
