More Horsing Around

It probably comes as NO surprise that I have horsey friends. My own family has been on a family story kick, and I've been enjoying them immensely, but I do feel we don't have anything QUITE LIKE this one:

Jay, here is the story of Max's filly, CC My Easter Sensation.

It's a tradition.

On Easter morning various Pletcher in-laws and outlaws assemble at the farm for an easter egg hunt, some of which have been memorable. You might recall the year it rained 2" on Easter morning, forcing the 40+ assembled into the house. Just about the time we were serving, the toilet overflowed onto the hall and kitchen floors. The string mop, which was brought in from the garage to deal with that mess, turned out to harbor a colony of overwintering yellow jackets....Folks were slipping and sliding and swatting...Memorable.

This Easter morning was a balmy 75 by ll a.m. 40+ inlaws and outlaws were wandering around the yards and barn areas sipping mimosas and stopping to ooh and aah over poor ol' VERY pregnant Max. I was in the kitchen when a breathless neice entered yelling "Her water broke!". Well, I thought, what does this little city dweller know? Then I could hear Ed, using his the-sky-is-falling voice.

By the time I got out to the barn, Max was on her side pushing, two legs and a nose were visable and 40+ folk aged 7 to 87 were leaning on the foaling paddock fence as a bay Tobiano Saddlebred filly entered the world.

I'd probably call her PF Silly Lily, but her owners, Beverly Fredericks and Lyle Smith will want something more dignified...And their own Cascade Colors prefix! (Spotz Sensation x AG Maximillion)

What a day. Sure beat swatting hornets...
