Another Interesting Podcast

The Art of Aging: A Doctor's Prescription for Well-Being by Sherwin Nuland

Dr. Nuland is on the faculty at Yale University, (a clinical professor of surgery) and gave a talk that is podcast in "Yale Books and Authors".

I loved some of his turns of phrase: Is aging really an art, or is it a period of life when we crumble our way into senescence and decrepitude, sitting on the couch watching the tube.

Idea: Art is both creative and enriching.

Aging Quotations

Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., the physician.
Men don't quit playing games because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing games.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
1825 50th anniversary of their graduation - wrote a long, mostly boring poem, but has these four lines on aging:

Age is opportunity no less
Than youth itself, though in another dress
As the evening twilight fades away
The sky is filled with stars invisible by day.

1841 Charles Dickens Barnaby Rudge
Father time is not always a hard parent, and though he tarries for non of his children, he often lays his hand lightly upon those who have used him well.
