Weather Prognosticator

John, [the telephone repairman] that prognosticator of weather extraordinar, said that by Saturday, the ice would be cleared. And it is so. Yesterday afternoon, I bravely took my life in my hands and crossed the uneven front yard to the car. The new gravel was melted clear and not packed yet, but serviceably sound.

I made it down the hill to the mail box and back up.

There is a ridge several feet in from the road where he began to dump the load, and a pile at the end where he stopped before circling and using a crowbar to get every last stone out, but the drive is in the best possible shape for the time of year and equipment available (shovel and wheel barrel to move the rock piles around to their best possible final resting places, so to speak...)

Inane Song Lyrics

Adam Catched Eve
"Adam catched Eve by the furbelow;
Adam catched Eve by the furbelow;
Adam catched Eve by the furbelow;
And that's the oldest catch I know;
And that's the oldest catch I know;
And that's the oldest catch I know."
-- sung by Tim Hart and Maddy Prior on the album Summer Solstice

fur⋅be⋅low  [fur-buh-loh] –noun

2. any bit of showy trimming or finery.

Right. I laughed until I cried. With fronds like these, who needs anemones?
