4:33p - Nearly Too Erudite For Words

I discovered (also in the Shaw volume footnote 2) that my two movie scripts are full of persiflage, light, bantering talk, such as this exchange, which might get worked into Propinquity and the Mesmerizer) and so has been copied to a file in 1989:

      You're from Chicago, right?
      Born there? No, Biloxi.
      Oh, a suburb?
      Not yet.

Their examples were the plays of Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward.
Ex. Wilde in Lady Windermere's Fan
Nowadays, we are all of us so hard up that the only pleasant things to pay are compliments. They're the only thing we can pay.

In this world there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.

current mood: clever
