Nano Begins For Me

I had thought I'd stay up since it was a Friday night, and write an hour or so after midnight, but I didn't make it...

So, thirty minutes BEFORE my alarm goes off, here I am, ready to start. Or maybe it is thirty minutes AFTER my alarm should have gone off and my body has just not adjusted to the new time... Whatever. I'm wide awake, ready to start my first batch of 1666 words.

Wish I'd bookmarked the "To Do" list on emilyreed where I will be putting the story this year as I go. I actually put down some guiding thoughts for the first two chapters -- more organized than Sequel ever got!

The Friday Five URL

Leeneh contributed the home base for the organization, which looks pretty nice.

But it is Saturday now, and I'm out of Halloween mood... Back to emilyreed for another stab at starting NANO. I forgot what I renamed the main character's best friend, which made it into the TO DO list for emilyreed, which I actually FOUND and bookmarked now, but I can only remember one word of my three word title. This does NOT bode well as a marketing ploy for the finished novel if the AUTHOR can't even remember it. *Puts on thinking cap, reminding self to remove it when memorable title surfaces...*

I did this last year with Sequel. I THOUGHT I'd come up with a "real" title for it during the month, but here it is a full year later to the day, and the thing is still called Sequel. At least this year's attempt had Desert in the title instead of being Sequel II.

Same Old, Same Old

Last year, no matter what, my Nano characters went off and did incomprehensible things. This year, they are off on the same kick again. Even with the supposed first two chapters outlined, I got into strange territory right off the bat.

My outline called for my main character to go to New York City with a friend and start her adventure from there. That's actually still the plan, but suddenly when I started writing, I found myself wandering around in a very real pasture, looking for a missing mare, who had gone off to foal. In real life, that foal died, but I am undecided if it should die to give her something to leave to get a better perspective on, or if just plain old wanderlust is enough to make her set off believably...

I need to write 1666 words per day to keep up and reach my goal. I had hoped to get a bit further today, to make up for any short fall, but only got to 1968 today. Of the eight planned things I thought it would take me to get to the daily word count for today, I've gotten to ZERO, but did set up the first one... I think.
