Skeins in the Sky
The Canada geese were heading south en mass this morning. The rising sun turned one side of each bird into a blinding silver dash. These stitches ran perfectly spaced across the sky, a hem of white in a pale pink gown. Then another flock tried to join the long side of the V (three dark birds on the tip, then 50 white dashes.) They tried to attach to the long side, making a snarl in the hem, then some went for the short side, hopelessly tangling the thread.
They passed out of sight still snarled.
